Virginia L. "Boots" Goodwin, 92, passed away September 9, 2017 at the Evansville Protestant Home. She was born June 13, 1925 in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late Harry T. and Mary Ellen (Sheffer) Bellew. She was preceded in death by sisters Annabelle Mitchell and Catherine Riley and brothers James Bellew and Albert William Bellew.

She graduated from St. Frances Academy in Owensboro in 1943. During World War Il she was a welder on the LST boats at the Evansville Shipyards and was an ammunition inspector at the old Chrysler plant. She also worked at...

She was preceded in death by sisters Annabelle Mitchell and Catherine Riley and brothers James Bellew and Albert William Bellew.

She graduated from St. Frances Academy in Owensboro in 1943. During World War Il she was a welder on the LST boats at the Evansville Shipyards and was an ammunition inspector at the old Chrysler plant. She also worked at Kent Plastics, Shawnee Plastics, and Snap Photo.

She married William S. Goodwin in 1946 and they spent 46 good years together until his death in 1992.

She was a generous, giving person and a good friend to many. She loved a good laugh, was very active, and made an enjoyable, satisfying life for herself before health problems slowed her down beginning in 2010.

She is survived by sons Bruce (Cindy) and Mike Goodwin, grandchildren James and Jennifer Goodwin, Leslie (Shawn) Chamberlain, great-grandchildren Jimmy, Elisabeth Rose, Victoria, and Claire Goodwin, llse Wangler, Chance, Brayden, and Jaylee Chamberlain. Also nieces and nephews Beverly Steele, Jo Nell Watkins, Mary Beth Buckman, Shirley Dieterle, Beverly Rudy, Martha Abshier, Charlotte Buren, Harry E. Bellew, James W. Bellew, and Allan Riley.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Daniel Nalin, Nurse Practitioner Emily Murphy, the staff of the Evansville Protestant Home and Heritage Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care.

A Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, with entombment in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 13, and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to service at the funeral home.
